About Us
Gold Coast Equine Clinic employs four equine only veterinarians, servicing the region between the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Beaudesert. We are located at 15 Ken Russell Court, Bundall, within the Gold Coast Equine Precinct adjacent to the Gold Coast Turf Club and the Magic Millions Sales Complex.

Although we have historically been associated solely with the thoroughbred racing industry, the practice services all manner of pleasure and performance horses and we have a rapidly growing client base away from the racing world. From cross country to campdrafting, and pony club to polocrosse, our vets are ready to help you ensure that your horse is maintained in the best possible health.
We pride ourselves in providing a highly efficient and professional service to our growing number of clients. We are committed to providing the best possible care for your horse with our experienced and well trained staff and through our state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and treatment methods.
Staff
Charlie McCormack BVSc MACVSc – Practice Owner/Principal
Charlie was raised in rural Queensland on the family cattle property at Glenmorgan on the western Darling Downs. He has been involved with horses from a very early age having grown up in the saddle as many country kids do. He graduated from the University of Queensland School of Veterinary Science in 1997 and worked in mixed animal practices throughout Australia and overseas before completing an internship in equine medicine, surgery and reproduction at the Goulburn Valley Equine Hospital near Shepparton in Victoria. Charlie moved to the Gold Coast in early 2003 to work for high regarded racetrack vet Philip Jefferies. In 2005 Charlie completed his equine surgery exams to become a Member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists. In 2006 Philip Jefferies retired from veterinary work and Charlie purchased the practice and started GCEC. Charlie and his wife Hope live in nearby Benowa with their two hyperactive dogs. Charlie spends most of his time servicing the trainers at the Gold Coast as well as several of the major spelling and pre-training facilities in the Beaudesert region. During Magic Millions sales time, he can usually be found "relaxing" in the Xray repository at the sales complex.
Leticia Kelly BVSc MACVSc – Associate Veterinarian
Leticia was also raised in God’s country of south west Queensland and has had a passion for horses from a very young age. During her veterinary study at the University of Sydney Leticia worked as a trackwork rider and stable hand with a leading trainer at Randwick until her graduation in 2004. She then completed a twelve month internship at the internationally renowned Randwick Equine Centre working with many of Australia’s leading veterinarians and thoroughbred trainers. Leticia moved to the Gold Coast in 2006 and has proven to be a highly competent and dedicated equine vet. Leticia has recently completed her Membership examinations in Equine Medicine and has a special interest in lameness diagnosis and in the treatment and management of gastro-intestinal disease in horses including stomach ulcers.
Aidan Glynn BVSc – Associate Veterinarian
Aidan was born and raised just outside Johannesburg in South Africa, but surprisingly we dont hold that against him. After graduation from The University of Pretoria Aidan worked for several years at Fourways Equine Clinic in Johannesburg, working extensively with many of South Africa’s leading thoroughbred trainers including Charles Laird and Mike de Kock. Aidan has also spent time in veterinary practice in the United Kingdom where he worked with a wide variety of pleasure and sporting horses. Aidan immigrated to south east Queensland in June 2008 splits his spare time between falling off his mountain bike and playing a very competitive game of golf. Aidan is primarily responsible for the ambulatory side of the practice, servicing our clients who are located throughout the hinterland and surrounding areas, as well as servicing several racing stables at the Gold Coast track.
Paul Robinson BVSc Dip ACVS - Equine Surgeon
Paul is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and gained Board Certification in Equine Surgery in 2007. He has been working at Scone Veterinary Hospital in the Hunter Valley for the last couple of years where he was one of four surgeons (and 34 veterinarians!) working on a large equine surgical caseload. Paul is originally from Queensland and worked for several years in racetrack practice at Morphettville in South Australia before moving to Michigan State University in the USA where he underwent his specialist surgical training. Paul has decided to return to Queensland after nearly 10 years working interstate and overseas and is currently the only full time Secialist Equine Surgeon working in South East Queensland.
Lyn Speirs – administration/reception (and Chief Whip Cracker)
Lyn is often the first point of contact when you contact out office. Her cheerful and upbeat phone manner conceals a serious and sinister underbelly; Lyn is not to be crossed! Lyn manages our accounts and much of the day to day running of the practice. After 9 years experience working in the equine world, Lyn now knows that the front end of the horse usually is the one with ears and eyes and the back end often includes a tail. Lyn and her family live at Runaway Bay with their savage guard dog "Chi Chi" who is also not to be crossed.
